The Oulu Climbing Center will be 10 years old next October. It all started back in 2013 and now we are celebrating the 10th anniversary on week 44. We will start the celebration as early as mid-October with offers. During the celebration week, we will post a new offer every day, always until the 4th of November Saturday, when we will organize a bouldering competition! The evening culminates in the 10th anniversary party. On Sunday 5th of November you can enjoy climbing with a cake and a coffee. Additional information about offers, competitions and other things related to the celebration will be updated on this page as the date approaches.

Due to the competition routesetting the use of boulder hall will be restricted between 1st-4th of November. We will start taking down routes on Wednesday. The main hall is open normally during the weekdays. On Saturday 4th of November the main hall is open 10.00-16.00. The rope hall will be either completely out of use or partially restricted on Saturday because we will build the setting for the evening party. On Sunday we will be open 12.00-20.00. The door links will be activated back to use around 18.00 after the competition.
We are organizing the Oulu Open bouldering competition on Saturday 4th of November. The competition is held in our boulder hall. There will be approx. 30 boulder routes for the competition. The routes will vary from easy to very difficult (from green to black card). The competition is held in a relaxed atmosphere and you are allowed to check others attempts on routes and ask for beta! Participants will be divided into women´s and men´s categories. The competition is aimed for people over years, but there aren’t any separate age groups. Due to limited space, only competitors and guardians of children under the age of 18 can enter the competition venue. Competition routes will stay on the wall after the event is over.
Head routesetter will be Sami Romppainen from Kuopio climbing center Voema. He will be assisted by Keipsi who is also from Voema and our own mainsetter Eelis Sallmen.
Rules: The competition time is four hours, during which the participants can try to climb as many problems as possible. All competitors are in the hall at the same time and you can follow the climbing of others. The Koivukylä method is used for scoring the routes. In short, this means that the more people climb the same route, the less points you get from it. The climber with the most points wins.
Competition tickets can be purchased until October 22nd. You can join the competition by buying a ticket from our online store. The competition ticket is under the name “Oulu Open kisalippu“. The fee includes the participation fee, food after the competition and access to the afterparty. After you have paid the participation fee, we will send a survey in which we collect the necessary information for the competitions. Please indicate in the survey if you have food allergies and if you plan to participate in the evening’s party. The space can accommodate a limited number of guests.

The main celebration event for our 10th year running starts at 18.00 in our main hall. Guests will have access to our sauna and meeting floor where we will offer light food and the change to enjoy our sauna and hot tub. Remember to take your own swimsuit and towel with you! At 20.00 DJs Trancemike5000, Tribos, Laxlo and ULINA will take over the rope hall. Their music and light show will carry you on the dance floor all the way to night time. We have a limited amount of spots for the evening party so remember to get buy it in time!
